Detroit has a long history with the automotive industry and the Pistons’ new City Edition uniforms for 2020-21 are trying to reflect that bond.

The Pistons unveiled their new-look uniforms on Friday, which will be worn at select home games this upcoming season. Per the team, the uniform draws from symbols of the region, with a circular read of “Motor City Detroit, Michigan” across the chest that is “reminiscent of vintage auto emblems, bold highway-like striping with a carbon fiber texture, gears surrounding the Pistons logo and an M1 icon representing Woodward Avenue.” The uniform has a royal blue base color and will be accompanied on the court with special warm-up apparel as well.
