Six-time champion and Hall-of-Fame forward Scottie Pippen was renowned for his versatility, which produced eye-popping production across the box score.
His son is pretty good at it too.
Scotty Pippen Jr., son of the elder Pippen and a guard for the Memphis Grizzlies, made history on Friday when he amassed 11 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists in Memphis’ 128-104 win over Washington.
Not only did the performance make for Pippen Jr.’s first triple-double of his NBA career, it also marked the first time in NBA history a father and son each registered a triple-double since Hall of Fame forward Dolph Schayes and his son Danny Schayes.

The elder Pippen put up 17 total triple-doubles across a career that featured seven All-Star appearances and 10 All-Defensive seasons after being drafted fifth overall by Chicago in 1987.
Pippen Jr.’s professional career began more quietly. He went undrafted in 2022 before eking out two-way contracts and G League reps, first with the Los Angeles Lakers and then the Grizzlies. Pippen Jr.’s contract was converted to a standard deal at the start of this season.
The 23-year-old guard has responded with steady and productive play for an injury-riddled Grizzlies team hoping to return to playoff contention. Through the first 10 games of the season, Pippen Jr. is averaging 11.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists while shooting 50% overall and 41.4% from 3-point range.
