With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below are the most notable NBA players born on Nov. 18.
Sam Cassell (1969)
Cassell made a name as one of the greatest trash talkers in NBA history, but he always backed it up. The 15-year vet started his career when he was taken 24th overall in the 1993 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets. “Sam I Am” spent his first three seasons in Houston and really blossomed in his final year there before spending one season apiece with the New Jersey Nets, Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks. He notably had a five-year stint with the Milwaukee Bucks, including making his sole All-Star appearance in 2004 and finishing 10th in MVP voting that year, averaging 19.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 1.3 steals. He closed his career with small stints for the Minnesota Timberwolves, LA Clippers and Boston Celtics before retiring in 2008. Throughout his 15-year career, Cassell played for eight teams and won three championships, averaging 15.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
Jason Williams (1975)
Williams has one of the best mixtapes of any player in NBA history, mixing the flashiness of streetball with an amazing NBA career. Nicknamed “White Chocolate,” the point guard was the seventh pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, spending his first three seasons in Sacramento. He finished second in Rookie of the Year voting, averaging 12.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 1.9 steals. Williams was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2001, averaging a career-high 14.8 points in his first season with Memphis. He spent the next five seasons with the Grizzlies and closed his career with the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic, before retiring with Memphis in 2011. J-Will also won a championship with Miami in 2006.
