With over 5,000 players in NBA history, at least one player was born on every day of the calendar year – including three leap day ballers. Our day-by-day breakdown of the players born on each day of the year continues.
Below are the most notable NBA players born on Nov 3.
George Yardley (1928)
The Fort Wayne Pistons selected Yardley eighth overall in the 1950 NBA Draft. He was unable to make his NBA debut until 1953 due to military service. He made an immediate impact when his service was up, making six All-Star appearances throughout his seven-year career. He also finished third in MVP voting in 1957, leading the league with 27.8 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. He closed out his career by playing two seasons for the Syracuse Nationals, retiring in 1960. Yardley was inducted into the Hall-of-Fame in 1996.
Ty Lawson (1987)
Lawson was famous for his speed and was a favorite among Nuggets fans throughout his career. Ty was taken 18th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, spending his first six seasons in Denver. He took over as their starting point guard in his final four seasons with them, averaging 16.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game in that span. Many considered him an All-Star snub during that stretch when the Nuggets were one of the best teams in the West, but some off-court issues forced him out of Denver in 2015. He closed out his NBA career by playing with the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and Indiana Pacers before playing two seasons in China. Lawson officially retired in 2019.
