Team USA heads into the competition with hopes of claiming its sixth FIBA World Cup title. USA’s last first-place finish came back in 2014, when a stacked squad featuring rising stars the likes of Stephen Curry, Kyrie Irving and James Harden led the Americans to gold. Much like the 2014 championship team, this year’s group consists of up-and-coming stars who elevated their games during the 2022-23 NBA season.

What to Watch
Anthony Edwards is one of the many Team USA players who took a leap forward last season. The 21-year-old guard improved his numbers across the board from his first two seasons and received his first-ever All-Star selection for his efforts. He also led the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Play-In Tournament despite his co-star, Karl Anthony-Towns, missing 53 regular-season games due to a calf injury. Edwards’ explosive scoring ability paired with his knack for making athletic defensive plays makes him arguably USA’s best two-way player.
