LAS VEGAS — Jake Layman scored 23 points to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to an 85-68 win against the Atlanta Hawks in the Las Vegas Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Sunday.
Layman, a second-round draft pick in 2016, shot 9-of-14 from the field, including 4-of-5 from 3-point range. He added four rebounds, two steals and two blocks.
The Hawks jumped to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, but the Trail Blazers recovered and never looked back, leading by as many 21 points in the second half. Portland shot 11-of-20 from 3-point range, while Miami clanked often from long range, shooting 4-of-28.
John Jenkins and Anfernee Simons each had 12 points for the Trail Blazers (2-0). Wade Baldwin IV had seven points, eight rebounds and 10 assists.
The only Hawk to score in double figures, John Collins totaled 18 points and nine rebounds to lead Atlanta (0-2).
Both teams return to the court Tuesday with the Trail Blazers facing the San Antonio Spurs and the Heat playing the Utah Jazz.
