How we’re taking
What Fans Can Expect Upon Returning to Barclays Center
Barclays Center is committed to hosting world-class sports and entertainment with the primary goal of keeping all fans, guests, employees, players, and performers safe. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working diligently with the NBA, New York State, New York City, and our own medical experts, as informed by the CDC, to establish and implement health and safety protocols for anyone who enters the arena.
The number of patrons permitted to attend Nets games at the arena will be subject to New York State guidelines and the NBA. Guests will be notified about specific protocols (including advanced COVID-19 testing) required to attend games in-person at the time of purchasing tickets from the Nets. Each game ticket will be provided in a digital format and will also contain standard “ticket-back” terms, including health and safety requirements (to which each patron attending a Nets game shall be subject).
Safety Measures at Barclays Center
All patrons and employees will be subject to rigorous health, safety, and COVID-19 testing protocols, prior to, and during, games at Barclays Center. Completion of a COVID-19 medical questionnaire and submission to a temperature check will also be required as part of the arena health and safety entry procedures.
Signage has been installed throughout Barclays Center addressing COVID-19 protocols and CDC prevention tips.
SECURITY BAG CHECKS
X-ray machines are used for bag security checks for a touchless experience with guests’ personal items (click here for our current bag policy).
Everyone entering Barclays Center over the age of two is required to wear a face mask that completely covers their nose and mouth. Permissible face masks include surgical masks, medical-grade masks, or multi-layer cloth masks. Single layer cloth masks, neck gaiters, bandanas, and masks with valves or vents are not permitted. Face masks are required at all times while inside the arena and on the arena plaza awaiting entry, except when actively eating or drinking in designated areas where such activities may be permitted.
Except for patrons in the same seating “pod”, anyone inside the arena must maintain at least six feet of distance (or greater as may be advised by arena management) from each other.
FOOD & BEVERAGE
There are designated spaces assigned to each seating pod within Barclays Center for consuming food and beverages, which will provide a safe distance from other guests. All food and beverage items will be delivered to patrons individually packaged (and all food delivery personnel will be wearing PPE, including masks and gloves at all times). Mobile and remote ordering will be implemented to minimize contact.
Enhancements Made to Barclays Center
AIR QUALITY & FILTRATION
Barclays Center is outfitted with MERV-14 filtration, which exceeds suggested minimum guidelines. As an additional protective measure, we have installed high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) units in strategic locations for further air filtration.
We have implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures intended to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. These procedures have been informed by the NBA, current CDC guidance, global industry best practices, and industry experts.
There are approximately 450 touchless hand sanitizer stations (dispensing solution with at least 70% alcohol) throughout Barclays Center, and we have installed additional touchless faucets, paper towel dispensers, and soap dispensers in arena restrooms and suites.
We have installed plexiglass dividers at various locations throughout Barclays Center to further reduce risk.
GLOBAL BIORISK ADVISORY COUNCIL (GBAC) STAR ACCREDITATION
Barclays Center received a GBAC STAR Accreditation, which indicates the arena has:
- established and maintained a cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention program to minimize risks associated with infectious agents like COVID-19
- implemented proper cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques, and work practices to combat biohazards and infectious disease
- highly-informed cleaning professionals trained for outbreak and infectious disease preparation and response
We have taken enhanced health and safety measures intended to mitigate the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Despite the protocols and requirements we have put in place, no precautions can eliminate the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Traveling to and from, visiting, and/or providing services in and around the arena may lead to a risk of exposure to COVID-19. COVID-19 is highly contagious and there is an inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 in any place where people are present. COVID-19 can lead to severe illness and death. While people of all ages and health conditions have been adversely affected by COVID-19, certain people have been identified by public health authorities as having greater risk based on age and underlying medical conditions. Exposure to COVID-19 can result in being subject to quarantine requirements. Please do your part by complying with our health and safety rules and let's keep each other safe and healthy.
All information above is subject to change as applicable regulations from New York State, New York City, and the NBA (as well as CDC guidance) may be implemented.
