How we’re taking
action against
COVID-19

Barclays Center is committed to hosting world-class sports and entertainment with the primary goal of keeping all fans, guests, employees, players, and performers safe. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been working diligently with the NBA, New York State, New York City, and our own medical experts, as informed by the CDC, to establish and implement health and safety protocols for anyone who enters the arena.

Enhancements Made to Barclays Center

AIR QUALITY & FILTRATION

Barclays Center is outfitted with MERV-14 filtration, which exceeds suggested minimum guidelines. As an additional protective measure, we have installed high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) units in strategic locations for further air filtration.

CLEANING PROCEDURES

We have implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures intended to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. These procedures have been informed by the NBA, current CDC guidance, global industry best practices, and industry experts.

TOUCHLESS EXPERIENCE

There are approximately 450 touchless hand sanitizer stations (dispensing solution with at least 70% alcohol) throughout Barclays Center, and we have installed additional touchless faucets, paper towel dispensers, and soap dispensers in arena restrooms and suites.

PLEXIGLASS DIVIDERS

We have installed plexiglass dividers at various locations throughout Barclays Center to further reduce risk.

—Updated as of October 7, 2021—

GLOBAL BIORISK ADVISORY COUNCIL (GBAC) STAR ACCREDITATION

Barclays Center received a GBAC STAR Accreditation, which indicates the arena has:

  • established and maintained a cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention program to minimize risks associated with infectious agents like COVID-19
  • implemented proper cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques, and work practices to combat biohazards and infectious disease
  • highly-informed cleaning professionals trained for outbreak and infectious disease preparation and response
