Nets vs. Spurs Odds & Picks: Nets Rebound to Cover

Betsperts analyst Jennifer Eakins gives her best bets for the Nets vs. Spurs contest on Tuesday, January 17th, 2023.

Currently on a two-game losing streak, the Brooklyn Nets travel to San Antonio to take on the Spurs on Tuesday night with tip-off set for 8:00 PM ET at the AT&T Center. The Spurs are dealing with their own issues as they are coming off a blowout home loss to the Kings. Brooklyn has been without Kevin Durant, who’s nursing a knee injury, but had won 14-of-15 games with him on the court. Let’s take a look at how the books see this game.

Nets vs. Spurs Best Bets

Nets -5.5 (-110 DraftKings)

Life without Durant hasn’t been kind to the Nets but it shouldn’t matter on Tuesday night against a Spurs team that is allowing the most points per game in the NBA both on the season (121.7) and over their last three contests (137.0). Brooklyn’s defense is keeping them competitive right now, as they yielded just 112 and 109 to the Thunder and Celtics respectively in their last two contests, teams that sit among the Top 9 in points scored per game this season.

These two teams met earlier this season resulting in a 139-103 win for Brooklyn. I wouldn’t expect the same margin without Durant, but the Nets should be alright in this one sans their star, considering their opponent.

Game Total Over 232 (-110 DraftKings)

While it may be tempting to take the under side of this based on Durant’s absence, the vulnerability of San Antonio’s defense screams over for Tuesday night. The Spurs have allowed 137.0 points per tilt in their last three contests and sit dead last in the NBA in opponent floor percentage at 57.8% in that time frame, and 53.4% on the season. Brooklyn is shooting at 50.8% themselves from the field this season so expect plenty of open shots against this Spurs squad.

Risk: 1.1 units on DraftKings to win 1 unit. (Playable to -120)
