The Sacramento Kings look to win their fourth straight game when they host the Brooklyn Nets tonight at the Golden 1 Center. The Nets are looking to rebound from a loss to the Los Angles Lakers in the third game of their four-game West Coast road trip.

Nets Slowly Finding Their Footing

Over the weekend the Nets beat the Clippers by 15 points on Saturday then turned around and lost to a LeBron James-less Lakers team by 13 points on Sunday. Just when it looked like the Nets were about to go on a winning streak they suffered a bad loss.

Despite the loss to the Lakers, I still feel like things are about to turn around for Brooklyn. Kyrie Irving will miss his seventh straight game due suspension, but there seems to be optimism that Irving will be back soon. Since Jacque Vaughn replaced Steve Nash as head coach the Nets are 4-3 straight up and 4-2-1 against the spread.

The Nets should be in pretty good shape health wise when they take on the Kings. Ben Simmons is expected to return after missing the Lakers game. Simmons only played 14 minutes against the Clippers on Saturday, but it’s still a plus to get him back in the lineup.

Nets guard Seth Curry is also expected to play tonight vs. the Kings. Curry totaled 45 points in his last two games while shooting 10-of-19 from beyond the arc. The Nets are very tough to defend when Curry is shooting it that well. Curry could very well be the X-factor for this Nets team moving forward.

Are the Kings Too Good to Be True?

Coming into the season many basketball pundits and handicappers identified the Kings as a team that could compete for a spot in the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.

To be honest, I was not one of those people. I felt as if it was just the same-ole Sacramento Kings. So far I’ve been proven wrong. The Kings got off to a slow start, but they have won three in a row and six of their last eight games.

The Kings are also 9-3 against the spread this making them the second-most profitable team in the league in the early stages of the season. The Kings are 4-2 ATS at home this season. Kings new head coach Mike Brown is changing the culture in Sacramento.

Now that the Kings are playing well, oddsmakers have upped the ante on their odds. Tonight they are the favorites against the Nets. Backing the Kings as a favorite is not as easy as backing them as an underdog.

Nets-Kings Pick

For as good as the Kings have looked recently, I’m not willing to lay points with them. The Kings are 2-2 ATS as favorites on the season.  Brooklyn is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five road-games. With Curry and Simmons likely to give it a go for Brooklyn I’m backing the Nets as road dogs. One more thing to note: the under has cashed in 71% of the Nets road games this season.

Pick: Nets +2.5 (-110)
