Golden State held onto its top ranking after a 2-1 overall Week 4 with the third-best net efficiency. Also, the Warriors’ Steph Curry won the Western Conference Player of the Week, putting up 34.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game with two 40-point efforts.
Brooklyn got the second-biggest boost in this week’s rankings thanks in part to an Eastern Conference Player of the Week performance out of Kevin Durant. Last week, the Nets had the best net rating with the highest effective field goal shooting and true shooting percentages. KD averaged 32.3 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in Week 4.
Let’s rank the NBA squads through the first four weeks of action.

Phoenix Suns (Ranked second, 10th last week)
Phoenix had the second-best net rating in Week 4, sandwiched between the Nets and Warriors. Furthermore, the Suns were the only team to go 4-0 last week and had a +11.1 spread differential in those contests. The Suns started out shaky, losing three of their first four games. But, Phoenix is currently riding a nine-game winning streak and performing up to preseason expectations.
Faller
Utah Jazz (Ranked eighth, second last week)
Utah has lost four of its last five games despite being in full health. The Jazz had a -2.1 net rating in Week 4 and have lost back-to-back home games. First, Utah lost as double-digit home favorites to the Indiana Pacers Thursday then to a Jimmy Butler-less Miami Heat Sunday. The Jazz still grade out well for the season in net efficiency, but Utah being fully healthy and not fully locked is why it fell in the rankings.
Neutral
Philadelphia 76ers (Ranked fifth)
Philly has lost four straight games solely due to Joel Embiid and Matisse Thybulle both being on the NBA’s COVID list. Since Embiid and Thybulle have been out of the lineup, the Sixers have the third-worst defensive rating and 23rd-ranked rebounding rate. However, Philly beat Chicago in back-to-back games prior to losing Embiid and Thybulle. I’m not going to drop the Sixers in my power rankings because they were playing like a top-5 team when healthy and both will return shortly.
