NBA Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (10/23)

After only two games last night to open up the NBA season, there are ten games tonight!

We don’t have current analytics and stats for the teams playing tonight. But we’ll make some educated guesses based on last year’s performances.

Here are two best bets to consider for tonight’s NBA slate.

Milwaukee Bucks vs. Philadelphia 76ers

While Paul George and Joel Embiid are out for the 76ers, Giannis Antetokounmpo expects to play with the Bucks tonight. Khris Middleton won’t be available, but the Bucks will still have the best player on the floor to start the game.

Milwaukee is also hoping for a better season from Damian Lillard. He came over to the Bucks and never really got situated before getting thrown into the system. Lillard is still one of the best scorers in the league and should help propel the Bucks this season. In addition, the Bucks brought in Gary Trent Jr., who took a massive pay cut to be with Lillard and the Bucks. Trent and Lillard played together in Portland, which should have given Lillard more comfort due to their familiarity.

Meanwhile, Tyrese Maxey will have to run the show for the 76ers. It’ll likely be Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Caleb Martin, Guerschon Yabusele and Andre Drummond to start the season. Yabusele got an NBA contract after his play in the Olympics, and Drummond certainly doesn’t give you what Embiid would.

Even on the road, I’ll grab the Bucks at -3.5 (-110).

Pick: Bucks -3.5 (-110)

Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Toronto Raptors

We don’t know how bad the Raptors will be this season. But we know they’ll be bad. The Raptors are already starting the season down Kelly Olynyk, RJ Barrett, Bruce Brown, and Ja’Kobe Walter. Ultimately, the Raptors lack depth.

They’ll rely heavily on Immanuel Quickley, Scottie Barnes, and Jakob Poeltl for points. Then they’ll look for Gradey Dick to take the next step offensively this season. However, it’s hard to trust Bruno Fernando as the backup center, and it’s hard to imagine Davion Mitchell giving incredible minutes as the backup point guard.

On the other hand, the Cavaliers aren’t being talked about as much as other seasons. The lineup is the same as last year’s group, minus Max Strus, who has a hip injury. Cleveland’s starting five of Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Isaac Okoro, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen is really good. We just haven’t seen this group stay healthy.

Enjoy this group while you can. Let’s take the Cavaliers at -6.5 against the Raptors.

Pick: Cavaliers -6.5 (-110)
