I’ve added my favorite two bets with five exciting NBA Cup matchups on tap for tonight.
I’ll share my analysis and picks below. Tail along if you’d like!
Tuesday’s Best NBA Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves
The Houston Rockets have been effective on the offensive glass, earning 34.7% of offensive rebounds. Ultimately, they’ve needed to. After all, the Rockets have shot an effective field goal percentage of just 50.5%. That ranks 27th in the NBA. It’s one of the main reasons why the Rockets have had to be so aggressive on the offensive glass.
The Timberwolves have only allowed 27.2% of offensive rebounds per game. Minnesota will likely prevent Houston from adding nearly 35% of offensive rebounds in this game.
On the other hand, Houston has held opponents to 105.4 points per 100 possessions. Teams have shot just a 50.3% effective field goal percentage against the Rockets.
In addition, the Rockets have earned 16% of turnovers and allowed 27.1% of offensive rebounds. The Rockets have a legitimate opportunity to win the turnover battle. They’ll also do well enough to keep the Timberwolves from adding a bunch of second chances.
Therefore, I’m rolling with the Under 220.5. Remember, it’s an NBA Cup game, so the defense will be a little tighter than we’re used to seeing.
Pick: Under 220.5 (-105)
San Antonio Spurs vs. Utah Jazz
The Utah Jazz stunned the New York Knicks 121-106 last time. However, they’re still just 4-12 on the year. Don’t get your hopes up, Jazz fans.
Utah still ranks 26th in points per 100 possessions. The Jazz have turned the ball over 18.1% of the time and have shot just a 52.6% effective field goal percentage. We can expect Utah to have success on the offensive glass. However, shots likely won’t fall. After all, the Spurs have held opponents to a 52.9% effective field goal percentage this year.
Additionally, the Jazz are great at getting to the foul line. The issue is that the Spurs are just as great at limiting foul shots.
On the other hand, the Spurs have added 112.2 points per 100 possessions, which is still in the bottom ten in the league. Furthermore, the Spurs have shot a 54.4% effective field goal percentage and continue to turn the ball over at a high rate.
With that said, the Spurs have a chance to increase offensive averages. The Jazz have allowed 118.8 points per 100 possessions and are in the bottom ten in defensive effective field goal percentage, turnover percentage, and offensive rebounding percentage on defense.
Ultimately, the Spurs have won two of three games in three previous meetings this year. They’re also 9-8 and above .500 with a three-game winning streak.
Let’s take our chances with the Spurs at -2.5.
Pick: Spurs -2.5 (-110)
