The Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers meet for the second time this season tonight in Philadelphia.
The 76ers, who had a slow start to their season, will be looking for their third straight win. The Sixers haven’t won a home game outright against the Bucks since 2019.
Will they finally snap that streak as short home favorites on Friday? Let’s take a look at how the two Eastern Conference contenders stack up.

The Bucks Have Dominated This Matchup
The Bucks enter tonight’s game against the 76ers losers of three of their last five games. They lost a pair of games to the Atlanta Hawks and dropped a road game against the Spurs. Those are the Bucks’ only losses on the season and they are still a half-game behind the Celtics for the best record in the NBA.
The Bucks have yet to field their best lineup this season. All-Star Khris Middleton has yet to suit up this season as he deals with a wrist injury. Wesley Matthews and Pat Connaughton will remain out tonight in Philadelphia. The Bucks are hopeful Grayson Allen and Jrue Holiday will be able to play tonight.
Despite dealing with a rash of injuries to start the season the Bucks are in good hands due to the play two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. He’s scoring 29.9 points per game and pulling down 11.8 rebounds a night and dishing out 5.5 assists. As long as the former MVP is on the court the Bucks have a legit shot to win every game.
Although they are underdogs the Bucks have to feel good about tonight’s game vs. the Sixers. Over the past five seasons, the Bucks are 8-2 straight up and 7-3 against the spread when facing the 76ers.
Are the 76ers Turning the Corner?
The Sixers have had an uneven start to the season. Philadelphia lost four of its first five games of the season. Joel Embiid looked lethargic early on and revealed that impacted his conditioning negatively.
Head coach Doc Rivers started hearing whispers about the hot seat early in the season, then James Harden went down. The hope is that he’s back by early December, but it couldn’t have been a worse start for Philly.
Since the slow start, the Sixers are 6-3 SU and ATS. Home victories over the Hawks, Phoenix Suns, and Utah Jazz have settled the Sixers restless fan base.
Joel Embiid has really turned his game up a notch recently. The last time we saw the Sixers Embiid put 59 points on the Jazz. The game before that he went for 42 vs. Atlanta. Embiid is carrying the Sixers, but will it be enough to beat a Bucks team that has had their number as of late?
The other bright spot for the Sixers is they are one of the best defensive teams in the NBA despite their overall struggles. They allow the fifth-fewest points per 100 possessions ( in their non-garbage time, according to Cleaning the Glass and over the past two weeks, they rank first allowing just 101.4 per 100.
Bucks-76ers Pick
The Sixers are 4-4 straight up and against the spread at home. They have won and covered in each of their last three home games.
Milwaukee is 3-2 ATS and straight up on the road this season. That’s not a bad road record, but they are not as dominant on the road as they have been in their own building.
The Bucks opened at +2.5 and the line has dipped by a point since. The Bucks are trendy underdog, but when the public backs an underdog I tend to fade that dog.
Embiid is playing at an elite level currently. He will be ready for this matchup vs. Giannis and the Bucks. Look for the Sixers to ride the home crowd and Embiid to a victory in this nationally televised game.
