Orlando Magic Sign Free Agent Miye Oni

ORLANDO -- The Orlando Magic have signed free agent guard/forward Miye Oni (MEE-uh OH-knee), President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Oni (6’5”, 205, 8/4/97) played in 12 games last season (2022-23) with the London Lions of the British Basketball League, averaging 7.9 ppg., 4.8 rpg. and 3.7 apg. in 22.3 minpg. During their first season in the EuroCup, the Lions became the first British club in history to clinch a berth into the EuroCup Playoffs.

Originally selected in the second round (58th overall) by Golden State, Oni has played in 80 career NBA regular season games (one start), all with Utah, averaging 1.8 ppg. and 1.4 rpg. in 8.4 minpg. He has also appeared in 10 career NBA playoff outings, averaging 0.7 ppg. in 5.5 minpg.

Oni played in 87 career games during three seasons (2016-19) at Yale University, averaging 15.0 ppg., 6.2 rpg. and 3.3 apg. in 31.7 minpg. He was named to the All-Ivy League First Team in both 2017-18 and 2018-19, and earned Ivy League Player of the Year honors in 2018-19.

Oni will wear #33 with the Orlando Magic.

In addition, Orlando has waived forward D.J. Wilson. He appeared in two preseason games with the Magic, did not score and averaged 1.5 rpg. and 1.0 apg. in 6.0 minpg.
