Film Room: Patricio Garino Strengths

Patricio Garino is a very confident long distance shooter and he has terrific length for a perimeter player. His shooting form and release is picture-perfect.

Garino spent the majority of this season in the D-League with the Austin Toros. He played on one of the Magic’s summer league teams last July, was signed by the Spurs shortly after and then joined his Argentinian national team for the Olympics in Rio.

In 49 games with the Toros, he averaged 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists. He also shot 43 percent from 3-point range.

Garino excels as a spot-up shooter. But, he’s also more athletic and agile than most people realize. He’s active coming off screens and had a few spectacular slams in the D-League. He has good body control when he attacks inside.

Garino became an NBA prospect during his senior year at George Washington where he helped guide the Colonials to the 2016 NIT championship. That season he averaged 14.1 points and shot 43 percent from beyond the arc.
