Magic's Top 5 Performers vs. Spurs

1 / 5Mo Bamba, playing in his first game since late January after injuring his left tibia, was impressive, finishing with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from 3-point range in 15 minutes. Although he didn’t record any blocked shots, the 7-foot, now-240-pounder was excellent on defense, altering a few shots at the rim and getting his hands on some of San Antonio’s interior passes.

thumbnail-image: Formerly a two-way player for the Utah Jazz and arguably the Magic’s best one-on-one scorer in Las Vegas, Erik McCree had it going out of the gate, scoring all 16 of his points in the first half. The 6-foot-8, 225-pounder out of Louisiana Tech and Spurs guard Lonnie Walker, the 18th overall pick in the 2018 draft, went toe-to-toe early on. Walker erupted for 28 points in 24 minutes.
thumbnail-image: Amile Jefferson, one of the Magic’s two-way players last season, learned a lot playing alongside Nikola Vucevic, one of the NBA’s premier playmaking centers. The former Duke Blue Devil, not previously known for his passing before joining the Magic, has become a superb playmaker, both with his back to the basket and when he faces up. Although he didn’t tally an assist during his 15 minutes of action on Friday against the Spurs, Jefferson made great decisions every time he received the ball. He finished with eight points, four rebounds and two blocks.
thumbnail-image: Despite not getting drafted last month, DaQuan Jeffries has the potential to make an NBA roster because of his defensive versatility and ability to knock down the long ball. At 6-foot-5 and with a near 7-foot wingspan, the former Tulsa standout can guard multiple positions and use his length to deflect away passes and contest perimeter shots. He, too, had a solid night, registering nine points, two rebounds and a steal in 17 minutes.
thumbnail-image: A mid-range specialist while in college and with the Lakeland Magic last season, Devin Davis looks like he may have expanded his game. He made all three of his shot attempts, which included a couple of nifty drives and a 3-pointer. The 6-foot-7, 235-pounder overcame a severe head injury from a freak car accident nearly five years ago.
