Denton: Magic vs. Pelicans Analysis (10/25/13)

Magic rookie Victor Oladipo overcame a poor shooting night by getting to the free throw line six times in the first half alone. He had 10 points, as did Orlando center Nikloa Vucevic, who added seven boards in just one half of work.

``I was (tested in the preseason) and I think I did a pretty good job of learning and bouncing back from mistakes,’’ said Oladipo, who averaged 13.9 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists in eight preseason games. ``It’s all a growing process and I’m looking forward to the regular season because everybody is going to raise it to another level of basketball. I’ve got to do the same thing.’’

Orlando opens the regular season Tuesday in Indiana against the Pacers, a much-improved team that pushed the Miami Heat to seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals last spring. After playing in Minnesota on Wednesday, Orlando’s home-opener is next Friday against the Pelicans.

``I’m excited. This summer I tried to work on my body a lot and get myself mentally prepared for my role and the growth of the team and I’ve been looking forward to Tuesday for a few months now,’’ Magic guard Arron Afflalo said. ``We’ll see how things change from a regular-season basis from preseason to the regular season.’’
