Denton: Magic vs. Grizzlies Analysis (10/18/13)

Vaughn left Vucevic in the game in the third quarter even though he had four fouls, hoping he could use the experience to learn to play through the foul trouble. Fouling out in just three quarters was a downer for Vucevic, but he was still happy with how he played against the all-star triumvirate of Nowitzki, Howard and Gasol.

``I like going against guys better than me because it gives me a chance to see where I am,’’ Vucevic said. ``I feel like I did a pretty good job against all three guys while going pretty hard. I want to compare myself to last year and see if I have improved. I feel like I’ve done a better job than I did last year.’’

Orlando had a 9-0 spurt early in the third quarter to take its first lead of the night. However, the Magic eventually lost the lead and trailed 67-65 heading into the fourth period. Through three quarters, Oladipo had 13 points while mostly playing off the ball.

Orlando trailed 41-37 after a sloppy, disjointed first half of basketball. The Magic hit just 34.1 percent of its shots, while Memphis was down to 37.8 percent after a particularly ugly second quarter.
