TDIKH: December 2

27 years, 101 days

In one of the classic Kobe Bryant-Kevin Garnett meetings of the past 20 years, it was a pair of supporting characters who stepped up.

Bryant nearly reached a triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, while Garnett countered with 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting.

But Minnesota’s Wally Szczerbiak (34 points, 12-of-16) and Lamar Odom (24 points, seven rebounds, eight assists) stole the spotlight, as Minnesota rallied for a 113-108 victory at Staples Center.

The Lakers led by as many as 18 points, but five minutes into the fourth quarter, Minnesota turned a seven-point deficit around by going on a 23-6 run.

Playing the role of facilitator, Bryant shot 9-of-16 from the field. He was electric from the right side of the court — hitting all seven of his attempts — but went just 2-of-9 from the left half.

Bryant also hauled in six of his rebounds in the second quarter along, pushing the Lakers to a 60-45 halftime lead.
