TDIKH: November 7

Nov. 7, 2004 26 years, 76 days

In the fourth game of his first year without Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant fueled the Lakers to a 106-90 victory over Atlanta with a game-high 24 points.

L.A. clicked the entire night, as it shot 56.1 percent from the field (37-of-66), hitting the same number of baskets as the Hawks on 20 fewer shots. Meanwhile, Caron Butler, who was acquired from Miami in the O’Neal trade, put up 22 points on a 10-of-14 clip.

With O’Neal gone and Vlade Divac, Devean George and Slava Medvedenko injured, Bryant and Butler shouldered the offensive load with ease, as they led Atlanta by 21 heading into the final quarter.

Bryant did the majority of his damage early and at the charity stripe, as he scored nine points in the first quarter and went 11-of-12 on free throws.

The All-NBA First Team selection also shot 6-of-12 from the field and gathered five rebounds, six assists and a pair of blocks.
