Is there a better way to open a season than swishing the game-winner in overtime?

Kobe Bryant sure didn’t think so when he dribbled to the top of the key with 2.5 seconds left and let it fly while covered by both Eduardo Najera and Andre Miller.

Bryant scored eight of his game-high 33 points in the extra period and celebrated with his patented fist clench after draining the final bucket.

“He got a good shot on the move and does what he does great: shooting those kinds of shots when he’s under duress,” Phil Jackson told reporters after Bryant sealed the first victory of his second stint as coach of the Lakers.

Bryant finished the night with a bit of everything, shooting 13-of-28 with five rebounds and four assists. Though he also had six turnovers, Bryant was helped out by 20 points from Smush Parker (8-of-12).

Meanwhile, the Lakers frustrated Carmelo Anthony, who tallied 17 points on a 6-of-17 clip and fouled out in overtime.
