Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal matched each other beat-for-beat, as each poured in 34 points in the Lakers’ 91-79 win over Portland.
Bryant caught fire early for 17 points in the first, then O’Neal provided 11 in the second. Bryant heated back up for 14 in the third, while O’Neal closed out with a dozen fourth-quarter points.
While the remaining Lakers combined for 23 points, Bryant also added seven rebounds and six assists with zero turnovers. O’Neal shot 13-of-19 with 14 rebounds.
The Trail Blazers brought the Lakers’ lead down to 73-71 early in the final period, but Los Angeles responded with a 12-2 run.
Portland shot just 32.6 percent from the field (30-of-92), while tallying only 10 assists.
Led by O’Neal, the purple and gold outscored their guests in the fourth, 20-11.
