Before capturing the first title of their three-peat, the Lakers announced that they were a team to be reckoned with by roaring back from a 17-point halftime deficit in Seattle.

Los Angeles managed to extend its winning streak to 14 games by blitzing the SuperSonics in the third quarter, 34-12, in its 110-100 road victory.

Kobe Bryant dropped a team-high 31 points on an 11-of-18 clip, as the Lakers shot 52.6 percent from the field.

Meanwhile, Glen Rice (24 points) and Shaquille O’Neal (23 points, nine rebounds, six assists) helped Bryant combat three Sonics with 10 rebounds, including Vin Baker (31 points) and Ruben Patterson (21). Bryant’s future teammate, Gary Payton, added 23 points.

Though Seattle had a 24-11 advantage in offensive rebounds, Bryant led the way by collecting six boards and three steals, while bombing five 3-pointers.
