Los Angeles Lakers teamed up with A Place Called Home to host their Cinderella & Prince Charming Project, a prom dress and suit distribution event on April 19th.
A Place Called Home is a community center that provides a safe and nurturing environment with programs in arts, education and wellness for the young people in South Central Los Angeles to help them improve their economic conditions and develop healthy and purposeful lives.
The event provided young ladies and gentlemen the opportunity to secure their own formal wear during a welcoming and empowering experience. More than 100 teens attended and received formal attire for their upcoming prom, graduations, and job interviews. With the help of Lakers staff, students from schools throughout Los Angeles received “the royal treatment” on campus. Teens “shopped” in our boutiques for FREE formal wear. Stylists offered fashion tips to help perfect the teens’ top picks. Young ladies received up to two free gowns, shoes, accessories, and makeup, while the young men picked out suits, shoes, and accessories.
Hundreds more who couldn’t attend will also receive dresses, suits, jewelry, shoe wear, and more in the coming weeks for their senior year milestones!
