Lakers Sign Tony Bobbitt

EL SEGUNDO, Cailf., Dec. 6 -- The Los Angeles Lakers have signed free agent guard Tony Bobbitt, it was announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Bobbitt, a 6’4” guard originally signed during the off-season as an undrafted rookie free-agent out of the University of Cincinnati, played in seven preseason games for the Lakers, averaging 6.9 points, 1.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 18.7 minutes. In addition, he also played for the Lakers 2004 Summer-Pro League team, averaging 16.4 points and 1.70 steals in seven games.

At the University of Cincinnati, Bobbitt averaged 13.4 points and 1.5 steals in 32 games as a senior. That same season, the Daytona, Florida native was named Third Team All-Conference USA as well as Conference USA Sixth Man of the Year. In addition, Bobbitt set a school record with eight steals versus Coppin State and averaged 12.7 points in three Conference USA Tournament games, earning tournament MVP honors.
