Lakers Announce Games for Opening Night, Christmas Day
Two marquee games of the 2017-18 schedule have been revealed, as the Lakers announced their opponents for opening night and Christmas day.
The season will open up with an intracity matchup between the Lakers and Clippers on October 19.
The Lakers will serve as the home team on opening night, which will tip off at 7:30 p.m. PT and take place a week earlier than last year due to the NBA’s shortening of preseason.
This first game of the season will serve as the start of new eras for Staples Center’s neighbors, as the Lakers will see the debut of second-overall pick Lonzo Ball, while the Clippers will look to move past the departure of Chris Paul.
Three months later, the Lakers will once again be one of the teams selected to play on Christmas Day.
This year they will cap the night off by hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves at 7:30 PT in a battle between some of the league’s top young talent.
Ball, Brandon Ingram and Julius Randle will face off against Karl-Anthony Towns, Andrew Wiggins and recently-acquired Jimmy Butler for this holiday clash.
