2017 Player Capsule: Tarik Black

Season Summary
After largely falling out of the rotation last season, Tarik Black regained his rhythm, saying that new head coach Luke Walton brought back the confidence that he had lost a year ago. Black averaged 5.7 points and 5.1 rebounds in 16.3 minutes, while playing in the starting rotation for about three weeks. Black was always active when he would hit the floor, averaging a double-double per 36 minutes (12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds).

Percentage shot by Black from the field. Though it was the lowest clip of his young career, he still hit more than half of his shots.

67: Games played by Black. He only made 39 appearances last season, despite being healthy for the majority of it.

75.2: Free throw percentage shot by Black — a massive, 33.0 percent increase from last season. He also hit his final 10 foul shots of the year, finishing at 82-of-109.

What’s Next
Black is under contract for next season, which would be his fourth with the Lakers. After meeting with the team’s front office, he said that their message was for him to work on his offensive game and physical shape over the offseason.
