Laker Girl 2013-14 Blog - Aubrey
Hello Lakers Fans!
My name is Aubrey and this is my second year as a Los Angeles Laker Girl. Wow! Our basketball season sure flew by!
What an incredible year, I know my teammates and I enjoyed every moment out on the court cheering on our Lakers team. There is no better feeling than dancing/performing on center court in front of the best fans in the world!
Since the Lakers games have come to an end, the Laker Girls have been staying busy with events around Los Angeles.
Recently, me and a few of my teammates attended the Los Angeles Unified School District’s healthy poster awards ceremony. All of the students in the Los Angeles Unified School District were asked to create their own poster, explaining the importance of eating healthy and staying fit. The Laker Girls were invited to the awards ceremony to announce the first place winners of the contest. The lucky winners were awarded with Disneyland tickets! We had such a great time meeting these talented students.
This past weekend, we (Laker Girls) took part in the Lakers Active Alliance “Highway to Health” event in Long Beach. Active Alliance is a program that is in partnership with the Los Angeles Lakers to help promote and build healthier communities. We led a light warm up before the 5K walk/run started…….and then we were very excited to cheer on the participants as they crossed the finish line. Me and my teammates had a lot of fun meeting the participants, taking pictures and signing autographs. We even did a short Q&A with the crowd. To top off this event, we taught a short dance routine to some of the people in attendance. We had a blast, and there was definitely some talented dancers in the crowd! After working up a sweat at the Active Alliance event, I needed to grab a quick bite to eat. Where else better than Carl’s Jr.? They have the best Cranberry Apple Walnut Chicken Salad. It was delicious and full of protein, which is exactly what I needed!
Along with being a Laker Girl and a student, I also teach dance classes. I work at a gym that gives me the opportunity to share my love of dance and teach kids of all ages. I am looking forward to this summer and all the fun opportunities that I have planned.
In addition, I will be assisting at a National Dance Convention in July, I cannot wait...
Any chance I have to dance, I’ll take it!
Thank you for taking the time to read my Blog!
