Laker Girls Blog 03/12/12 - Anncell
Hey Lakers Fans!!
I’m Anncell and this is my first season as a Laker Girl. I hope you’re all pumped about our win against Boston this past Sunday. The energy inside STAPLES Center was INSANE! From the “Beat Boston” chants, to the “Masked Mamba” doing his thing, the Lakers Purple and Gold was definitely represented!
I cannot believe the regular season is almost over. I feel like it was just yesterday that I got the phone call offering me a spot on the Laker Girls squad.
Since that phone call, my experience as a Laker Girl has been AMAZING!
The first thing that comes to mind when I think about how unbelievable this year has been is...OMG!
Reflecting back on the past eight months, this is what comes to mind:
getting know my teammates, working hard at rehearsals, dancing at games and participating in charitable functions.
I am truly humbled to be apart of such a prestigious organization.
Believe it or not, my favorite moment at every Lakers game is the National Anthem, which is performed before every Lakers home game. I always wonder who the performer will be…….! During the anthem, I actually have a moment to breathe and remind myself that I am standing on the Lakers home court - living my dream!
It’s an exciting/overwhelming feeling!
One of my favorite parts about being a Laker Girl is participating in community events. Since I was born and raised in Los Angeles, I love giving back to the city that I have grown up in. Earlier this month, we (the Laker Girls) participated in many “Read Across America” events. They took place at various elementary schools throughout Southern California. At one of these events, I read two Doctor Seuss books to students in a first grade class. The kids were so cute and excited. The looks on their faces were priceless! In addition, I loved hearing them talk about how much they love the LAKERS!
Between promotional appearances, Lakers games, work and working out, my plate is definitely full. I barely have time to cook for myself. Luckily there’s a Carl’s Jr. near my house and my job. Whenever I need to grab a quick bite I go for the Low Carb Chicken Club. Yummy!
I am so proud of the Lakers team and all of their hard work. It seems these players are starting to look like the CHAMPIONS they are, and always will be! Even though the season’s almost over, I cannot wait to see what happens in the next few weeks!
I know all of the die-hard Lakers fans will keep cheering until the end and I’ll be right there with them. :-)
“Purple and Gold til’ I’m old!”
