Wendell R. Wiggins interest in the arts began growing up in Washington, D. C., but it was in Ohio where he received a BFA degree in illustration, graphic design and photography from the Cleveland Institute of Art. His post graduate education at The California Institute of Art (CalArts) became another major source of inspiration. Over the years, Wendell has continued his commercial endeavors as an independent designer, while also exhibiting his paintings at a variety of art galleries, museums, and art festivals throughout the U.S. and abroad.

His themes reflect his obvious deep fascination with culture, spirituality, and nature. Wendell’s art also reflects a deep optimism and joy of life. In his words, "I strive to inspire and uplift observers of my art, visually and emotionally."
Currently he resides in Los Angeles, CA where he owns his own design studio, Wiggins Design, Inc.
