IN THE PAINT — Artist Spotlight

“Honestly, I’m so excited for the Lakers to see my work. But I think the biggest thing for me is knowing they’ll walk away hearing my story. They’ll walk away knowing my message I’m trying to convey with my pieces.”

“Walk with a spirit of boldness while maintaining humility in your greatness.” - Nikki Toombs As an African American man, seeking to tell stories that reflect his lived and learned experiences, Jordan Christopher has found that this quote keeps him grounded and motivated, serving as a mantra, it has truly shaped his philosophy on art and navigated his career as a visual artist.

Jordan Christopher is a multi-disciplinary creative architect and visual artist traversing through the mediums of oil, digital art, and more. He is a native of Birmingham, AL, raised in Atlanta, GA, and currently residing in Long Beach, CA. His artist’s journey continued through grade school and on to college as a student at Howard University in Washington, D.C.

Throughout his matriculation, he found a deep passion for the arts, education, and advocacy. He had the honor of being selected for the Chadwick A. Boseman College of Fine Arts exhibition- where his most recent oil painting was purchased from Howard Alumna, Taraji P. Henson.

His work is not just about artistry, but also advocacy. He tries to tell stories on canvas that reflect the intersection of the human experience. From celebrating historically black college and universities’ culture to honoring the strength of Black women, his work speaks to all generations. Beyond the beauty, the art that he creates must be meaningful, personal, and purposeful.
