Orlando Woolridge played in 136 games over two seasons with the Lakers from 1988-90 after being signed as a free agent, averaging 11.1 points and 3.3 rebounds in 21.4 minutes, while ranking fifth in the NBA with a .556 field goal percentage during the 1989-90 season. Remembered as one of the league’s most prolific dunkers, Wooldridge played for seven different teams over 13 NBA seasons, holding career averages of 16.0 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 28.3 minutes in 851 games. After playing in the NBA, Woolridge spent his final two seasons playing professional hoops in Italy.


Prior to being selected by the Bulls with the sixth overall pick in the 1981 NBA Draft, where he ran the wing alongside Michael Jordan, Woolridge averaged 10.6 points in 109 games at Notre Dame, helping the Fighting Irish reach the NCAA Tournament in each of his four collegiate seasons. Woolridge was named second team All-America by The Sporting News as a senior.


Woolridge, who passed away on May 31, 2012, was born on December 16, 1959, and is survived by his three children, Zachary, Renaldo and Tiana; by his parents, Mattie and Larnceen; his sister, Dr. Vanessa Woolridge Duplessis; his brother-in-law, Darren Duplessis; and his nephew, Nigel Duplessis.
