#42 James Worthy

1982 - 1994

The Lakers selected Worthy with the first pick in the 1982 NBA draft and he spent his entire career donning the purple and gold. The North Carolina native thrived in the team’s up-tempo style of play, alongside Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Norm Nixon and Jamaal Wilkes, among others. Worthy lived up to the nickname “Big Game James” because of his play during crucial games. In Game 7 of the 1988 NBA Finals against Detroit, he notched his first and only triple-double with 36 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists to help lead the Lakers to their second straight title.
