Lakers Team Up with Los Angeles Regional Food Bank
With the start of the NBA season just around the corner, the Los Angeles Lakers staff came together to assemble food boxes at the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank in the first Team Up event of the season.
Lakers Team Up events are designed to encourage Los Angeles residents of all ages to volunteer in their community and engage in service projects, and for this the first Team Up of the season, the freshest Lakers faces, draft-picks Brandon Ingram and Ivica Zubac teamed up with 50 Lakers employees to serve.
The afternoon at the Foodbank was a perfect demonstration of how people, giving a little, can make a big impact, as the staff and players worked together on an assembly line to prepare over 1,800 food care packages, which will be distributed to seniors in need around Los Angeles County.
The Foodbank’s 96,000 square foot facility is part warehouse and part assembly line. Food comes to the Foodbank from Unites States Department of Agriculture and private donations and from there it is boxed and shipped to a network of over 500 charitable agencies.
Teamwork was appropriately the word of the day for this event, with everyone playing their role in the warehouse, just as the Lakers do on the court.
