Holiday Party for Kids

Official Lakers Release

This holiday season the Lakers and East West Bank continued their tradition of providing one-of-a-kind holiday experiences during their annual “Season of Giving” community initiative. On Wednesday, December 16th the annual Holiday Party for Kids took place at the Lakers practice facility where 70 elementary and middle school students from School On Wheels were invited to celebrate the season with the Lakers.

The day began with the Laker Girls welcoming everyone to the party by giving the kids Lakers beanies and taking them down to the Los Angeles Kings ice rink to get suited up to skate. After skating the kids sipped on hot chocolate and put on their Holiday shirts to then head in to the Lakers Practice Facility.

The players welcomed the kids in to the gym and began to play different basketball games with the kids: free throw contest, knock out and relay races. In addition to basketball activities, each kid had the opportunity to sit with Santa Kobe to take a photo.

At the conclusion of the event D’Angelo Russell, Anthony Brown Marcelo Huertas, and East West Bank staff handed out a Lakers gift bag consisting of a foam finger, Lakers yearbook, Lakers pendant, mini basketball hoop, and an East West Bank blanket, Laker pens, Lakers notebook, Kobe photo and a Laker Girl photo. After they received their Lakers prizes the kids visited the Toys for Tots booth with the US Marines. Each kid was able to pick out a toy of their choosing.

The Lakers, East West Bank and the US Marines were happy to give and the kids were ecstatic to receive not only a few fun souvenirs but more importantly memories that will last a lifetime.
