Active Military Members Experience the Lakers Through Hoops for Troops Program
We spent the end of October and beginning of November honoring our troops from Southern California with the Lakers annual Hoops for Troops program.
The Lakers partnered with Pechanga Resort and Casino to give back to those that serve and protect our country with three basketball clinics hosted by Lakers Trainers, and Lakers Legend, A.C. Green.
On three different occasions we invited 50-active military members from LA Air Force Base, March Air Reserve Base and Sunburst Academy to STAPLES Center for a full day of Lakers basketball. A.C. Green and Lakers expert trainers lead the troops through drills, relays and some friendly competitions, as their family members watched from the stands and enjoyed the Lakers home-court arena.
The Lakers staff started each event by thanking the men and women, and their families, for their service and sacrifice. And when the clinic wrapped up, every member received four tickets to the game following the clinic.
A.C. Green put it perfectly, “This is just a small token of our appreciation to these men and women.”
It was extremely rewarding to be able to do something for a group of people that do so much for us and our country. The Los Angeles Lakers and Pechanga Resort and Casino could not have been happier to host this year’s Hoop for Troops program, it was an honor.
