2018 Chick Hearn Memorial Scholarship Award
To honor the legendary Hall of Fame Broadcaster Chick Hearn, the Los Angeles Lakers, Marge Hearn, and hundreds of fans, have contributed to the Chick Hearn Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports two deserving Broadcast Journalism students at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.
The 2018 Chick Hearn Memorial Scholarship Award winners are Julia Adams and Nicholas Alfano. On the November 25th game, Julia and Nicholas were joined by Shannon Hearn, Kayla Hearn and Gordon Stables of USC Annenberg on court at halftime for a special presentation.
Julia Adams is a senior at the University of Southern California majoring in broadcast and digital journalism and minoring in sports media industries. Since her freshman year, Julia has been involved with Annenberg Media, and is currently the Sports Director of Annenberg TV News and the Executive Producer of Sports Scene. Previously an intern with Fox Sports and The Wasserman Media Group, Julia hopes to become a sportscaster, covering either college football or the NBA upon Graduation.
Nick Alfano is a senior majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism with a minor in Business Finance in the Marshall School of Business. At USC, Nick has worked as a producer for Annenberg TV News and is the senior ambassador for the Annenberg Admissions office. Nick has interned for the USC Athletics Department, NBC Olympics, The Brooklyn Nets, and The National Basketball Association. After graduation, Nick hopes to work for a professional sports league, team or television network.
