Trees for Threes 2014-15
On Saturday March 14th, Julius Randle, the Laker Girls, East West Bank and Lakers staffers joined students and parents from 20th Elementary to plant thirty new trees on the school’s campus. Volunteers helped with digging, weeding, and mulching the ground before planting and naming each tree. This tree planting is part of a multi-phase project between the LA non-profit, TreePeople and 20th Street Elementary. TreePeople inspires and supports our community to plant and care for trees, harvest the rain, and renew depleted landscapes.
The trees were part of Lakers Trees for Threes, presented by East West Bank. Each time a Lakers player makes a three pointer at STAPLES Center this season, the Lakers and East West Bank have pledged to plant a tree in Los Angeles. These thirty trees were just some of 199 earned through Lakers Trees for Threes this season.
