Lakers Beach Clean Up

Official Lakers Release
Lakers Beach Clean Up

As part of Earth month, on April 6th 2013, the Los Angeles Lakers and East West Bank along with environmental group Heal the Bay teamed up in efforts to promote environmental awareness through a beach cleanup.

Attending the “Lakers Beach Clean Up” were East West Bank staff, Lakers Guard Darius Morris, Lakers Center Robert Sacre, the Laker Girls, Lakers staff and several Lakers fans. All involved had an active afternoon hitting the sands at Dockweiler Beach with buckets, gloves and trash grabbers. Thanks to the staff members at Heal the Bay not only did participates clean the sands at a local beach, but they were also educated on environmental topics including the Los Angeles watersheds and the detriments pollution can have on our maritime environment. All participants wore “Lakers Eco All-Stars” shirts and were able to gather a total of 66 lbs. of waste.

Thank you to all the members at Heal the Bay and our participants for your contributions to a successful event. The Lakers want to inspire everyone to keep in mind of their waste disposal as a majority of the trash not properly disposed can end up harming marine life as well as damaging the water quality of the very beaches we swim in.
