2012 Chick Hearn Scholarship

To honor the legendary Hall of Fame Broadcaster Chick Hearn the Los Angeles Lakers, Marge Hearn, and hundreds have fans have contributed to the Chick Hearn Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports two deserving Broadcast Journalism students at the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism.

The 2012 Chick Hearn Memorial Scholarship Award winners are Eleni Press and Jonathan Kendrick.

Eleni is a senior who is majoring in Broadcast and Digital Journalism and minoring in both Business and Sports Media Studies. While at USC, Eleni has been actively involved with the University’s campus news station, Annenberg TV News, where she currently serves as Sports Director. Eleni has also interned with the Los Angeles Sparks and the CBS affiliate in her hometown of Chicago.

Jonathan is also a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism with minors in Business and Spanish. A native Angelino and aspiring Play-by-Play Broadcaster, Jonathan has interned with Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports Radio and KCBS/KCAL during his time at USC. Like Eleni, Jonathan is actively involved with Annenberg TV news, where he serves as the Sports Multimedia Director and as one of the station’s nightly Sports Anchors.

USC Annenberg thanks Marge Hearn, the Lakers and Laker fans for their support which allows deserving students to continue their education and pursue their dreams.
