2015 Player Capsule: Wesley Johnson

BY THE NUMBERS
9.9:
Points averaged by Wesley Johnson, which were the most in his five-year career.
15: Rebounds grabbed against Portland on April 3, which tied his career high.
43.0: Seconds left when he stole the ball from James Harden on Nov. 19 against Houston and followed with the go-ahead three-point play that pushed L.A. to victory.

SEASON SUMMARY
In addition to his career-best scoring average, Johnson also set individual marks in minutes played (29.5) and free throw percentage (80.4). The 2010 fourth overall draft pick's presence on the wing was sorely needed for the Lakers, as he was often the only true small forward in the rotation. Johnson finished the year out on the rise, averaging 11.0 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 42.5 percent after the All-Star break, having tallied 9.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and a 40.7 percent clip before it.

IN HIS OWN WORDS
“I had a different role this year. They wanted me to be defensive-minded, really anchor the defense and do stuff on that aspect for the team. When Kobe (Bryant) was here, it was mainly that. They wanted me to score more when he was out. So I was going back and forth, which was cool. I got to really just see and learn a lot about myself.”
