Standing 7’3” and then only 20 years old, the Knicks’ first-round pick in the 2015 draft quickly established himself as a fan favorite. After debuting in October with 16 points against Milwaukee, the Latvian big man posted 24 points, 14 rebounds and 7 blocks against the Houston Rockets on November 21. That performance helped the rising star earn his second consecutive Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honor, and a very promising career was underway.
