New York Knicks Acquire Josh Hart

NEW YORK, February 9, 2023 New York Knicks announced today that the team has acquired guard/forward Josh Hart and the draft rights to Bojan Dubljevic and Daniel Diez from Portland in a four-team trade with Charlotte and Philadelphia.  New York sends forward Svi Mykhailiuk to Charlotte and guard Ryan Arcidiacono, forward Cam Reddish, a protected first round draft pick and the draft rights to Ante Tomic to Portland.

“We are excited to add Josh Hart to our Knicks family,” Knicks President Leon Rose said. “He is a versatile two-way player who brings toughness, veteran leadership and a competitive edge to our roster.”

Hart, 6-4, 215-pounds, is averaging 9.5 points, a career-best 8.2 rebounds (1.9 offensive rebounds), 3.9 assists and 1.1 steals over a career high 33.4 minutes in 51 games (all starts) for Portland this season. He leads all NBA players that are 6-foot-6 or shorter in offensive rebounds per game, as well as rebounds per game (min. 30 GP). He has appeared in 347 career games (169 starts), averaging 9.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 28.2 minutes in six seasons with LA Lakers, New Orleans, and Portland.

The Silver Spring, MD-native, was originally selected by Utah with the 30th overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft before being traded to the Lakers. A four-year standout at Villanova University, Hart recorded 13.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists over 28.0 minutes in 146 career games (77 starts) and helped lead the Wildcats to the 2016 National Championship alongside Knicks guard Jalen Brunson. Both players have had their jerseys retired by the university.
