Knicks Sign Jericho Sims

NEW YORK, July 9, 2022 – The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed center Jericho Sims.  Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Sims, 6-10, 245-pounds, signed a two-way contract on Aug. 8, 2021, after he was originally selected by the Knicks in the second round (58th overall) in the 2021 NBA Draft. He appeared in 41 games (five starts) for the Knicks, averaging 2.2 points and 4.1 rebounds over 13.5 minutes. In April, he averaged 5.6 points and 9.4 rebounds over 28.6 minutes in five games (three starts) and posted his first career double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds against Brooklyn on Apr. 6. He also appeared in four games for Westchester (G-League), averaging 13.3 points and 13.5 rebounds over 34.7 minutes.

The 23-year-old Minneapolis, MN-native, played four years at the University of Texas and averaged 6.6 points and 5.4 rebounds over 20.5 minutes in 119 games (77 starts). In his final season in Austin, he earned All-Big 12 honors, after recording 9.2 points on a career high 69.6-percent shooting, to go along with a team-leading 7.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 27 games (26 starts).

He’s currently playing for New York’s Summer League entry in Las Vegas, NV. He posted 16 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in last night’s win over Golden State.
