Today, the Sacramento Kings announced the NBA’s first blockchain-powered reward program in collaboration with Blockparty. The Kings plan to add the new reward program as an enhancement to the NBA’s first predictive gaming application, “Call the Shot,” in time for upcoming 2019-20 season.

“We have only just begun to see the benefits of blockchain technology as it transforms the way business is conducted worldwide, ensuring secure transactions across multiple sectors and customers,” said Sacramento Kings Chairman, CEO and Governor Vivek Ranadivé. “We are committed to continuing to deliver the best fan experience and are excited to bring this transformative technology to life to award our loyal fans through experiences in a secure and transparent way.”

Through this partnership, Blockparty plans to use blockchain technology to track Kings fans engagements and accumulate points in a virtual wallet within each fan’s Sacramento Kings + Golden 1 Center app. Kings fans using the “Call the Shot” gaming experience within the app can earn rewards based on these points. Enrollment in the rewards program is free and rewards are non-transferable and have no monetary value. The rewards can be redeemed for prizes and unique events including signed merchandise and courtside tickets. Developed with Xperiel, “Call the Shot” was the first mobile offering from an NBA team that offers high-frequency predictive gaming to fans.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the most technologically innovative team in professional sports and help them bring the latest in blockchain technology to the NBA,” said Blockparty CEO Shiv Madan. “Our technology should give the Kings more flexibility in how they reward their most loyal fans. This partnership represents another first in the team’s efforts to pave the way for technology innovation in sports. In 2014, the Kings became the first NBA team to accept Bitcoin as payment in the arena. Last year, the Kings became the first professional sports team in the world to mine cryptocurrency and announced a charitable program, MiningForGood, that donates those funds to workforce development and training efforts in the community.

The Kings are industry leaders in predictive gaming. Earlier this year, the Kings also debuted the NBA’s first dedicated space for a free-to-play, in-arena predictive gaming experience.

Sacramento, Calif. – Today, Sacramento Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé released a statement regarding the Supreme Court ruling allowing states to pass laws legalizing sports betting.

In 2016, the Sacramento Kings developed and launched an interactive, predictive gaming platform for fans to wager points on in-game action – from their arena seat or around the world. “Call the Shot” is part of the award-winning, dual-mode Sacramento Kings + Golden 1 Center app – the fan “remote control” for the world’s most technologically advanced and sustainable arena. The Supreme Court’s decision, coupled with potential legislation in California, could pave the way for fans to use the innovative gaming platform to consume and interact with the game in new ways.

Sacramento, Calif. – Today, the Sacramento Kings and Golden 1 Center announced a first-of-its-kind dual application, available soon for free download in the App Store and Google Play. The app is a new platform to experience the technologically-enhanced features in Golden 1 Center, and to provide fans with a channel to receive team updates and information. This original approach to a multifaceted app was created in partnership with industry-leading digital technology provider Built.io and designed by Webby Award-winning digital creative agency M&amp;C Saatchi LA.
 
The new Kings app, powered by Xfinity, features focus on enhancing the guest experience by providing fans with unmatched customer service and access to real-time information, right at their fingertips. When guests utilize the app, their hyper-personalized arena experience will feature on-demand information regarding every aspect connected to their visit, including information about transportation and parking, arena line queuing, and access to advanced game metrics, exclusive video angles and more. The app will also feature an advanced gaming platform for fans to make predictions and compete against one another in real-time.
 

“No other arena will provide fans and guests with real-time information and extreme customer service like Golden 1 Center,” said Kings Owner and Chairman Vivek Ranadivé. “This new app will be the fans’ remote control for the world’s most advanced arena, allowing them to customize and take control of their experience, and engage with the team like never before.”

 
Behind the scenes, Built.io’s advanced digital platform provides the Kings with the ability to add new features and evolve with the demands of Golden 1 Center and the fans. The app’s backend runs 1,500 automations per game across 10 unique application program interfaces, ranging from the NBA to Urban Airship to PubNub. This synchronizes a real-time experience with up-to-the-moment scores, play-by-play info, shot-chart details, as well as team and player stats and more. All told, the combination of products is a backbone that accommodates an incredible 30-plus integrations.

Fans can access real-time information about multiple transit and parking options.

The seamless experience begins when fans prepare to come to a game or an event. Kings Season Ticket Members can easily view and manage their tickets in the app through a Ticketmaster integration. Fans can also browse the Kings and Golden 1 Center schedules to purchase tickets for single games, concerts or shows at the touch of a button. Single game and event ticket holders can also enjoy a seamless experience of viewing and managing their tickets, making entry into the arena quick and easy.
 
As fans head downtown, they can access real-time information about multiple transit and parking options. UBER integration, a direct link to purchase parking in advance, as well as select public transportation information will all help fans plan their route downtown.
 
Once in the arena, high-quality maps will help fans navigate the concourse and get right to their seat. Real-time information will let fans know if the line is long at their favorite local eats or if there is a wait for a nearby restroom. From their seat, fans will be able to order delivery from the arena’s NBA-leading farm-to-court menu, featuring local favorites alongside arena classics. Seat and experience upgrades will also be available for purchase from the app, as well as team merchandise and memorabilia.
 
Kings fans in the arena will be able to take advantage of special features only available in Golden 1 Center. During games, multi-angle replays and live streams will give guests in the arena the opportunity to catch the action from multiple perspectives. Fans will also have instant access to a new way of visualizing a wide range of team and player data as the game progresses.
 
In a professional sports team first, KAI – Kings Artificial Intelligence, the team’s Facebook Messenger bot — will be featured in-app to answer questions about the team and venue.

The new Kings app will also feature an integration from LAVA, a cloud-based customer engagement platform that utilizes machine learning to engage and fans with hyper-personalized experiences. By using the app and coming to games, fans will be eligible for these tailored offers and rewards based on their activity within the app and at the arena.
 
For concerts and shows, guests can switch the app to Golden 1 Center mode at the press of a button. Here app users can find set lists in anticipation of an upcoming concert, track show announcements and get up-to-date event details, in addition to features designed to enhance the arena experience.

Hey Kings fans, it's Mitch Richmond! I'll be hanging out in the Shaq Zone answering questions! Feel free to ask me some and I'll answer as many as I can.

I think the new arena is going to be outstanding, for the city of Sacramento it's going to be such a blessing. It’s going to be a central place where everyone can go and have a great time!

Do you keep in contact with the L'Train? If so what is he up to?

I actually keep in contact with a lot of my teammates. It's always good to see Corliss here. I see L-Train in the summer time. He has a construction business. I see him a lot.

He was a really good guard. He can take it to the rim and dunk on you. He was a great guy in the pick and roll. He was a dangerous guy, as quick as they come.

Woah, I tell you what it would probably be the longest 1-on-1 game in the world cause I'm fouling every play. No prediction on a winner, it depends on who gets hurt first!

Did you listen to any music to pump you up before game time &amp; if so, who'd you listen to?

I listened to a little bit of everything. I would listen to Dr. Dre, Tupac, Biggie, those types of guys.

What do you think it will take for the kings to be a consistent playoff contender?

You have to take baby steps and the right steps so you can have consistency. As you know the Western Conference is so difficult to get into the playoffs. You have to be fortunate and have a little bit of luck.

Who was your favorite player to compete against?

There were so many, MJ was definitely one, Clyde Drexler, Reggie Miller, they bring out the best in you and you know they're going to compete and go hard.

What was it like playing against Gary Payton?

Gary was definitely a true competitor, you know every night he's going to trash talk you, you had to be prepared. He was a treat to play against!

What was your favorite game you played or moment of your career?

I had some great games, my great moment individually and as a team in Sacramento was when we made the playoffs in 1996.

Pete, is there any more trades coming soon?

Wow, hard-hitting questions here in the Shaq Zone :) Obviously as a GM I will always try to be candid with fans about the things we are doing. I can say this, we will continue to be aggressive to get this thing going in the right direction. The fans of Sacramento deserve a competitive team.

Mr. D'Alessandro as a GM, what characteristics/ skill set do you look for when looking to sign or acquire a player through a trade?

Depends on our team needs at that time. I would say in general, we are looking to be a fun, athletic team and most importantly players that want to compete and want to win.

Although we've been losing, the fact that the games are close is very encouraging. I feel like we're missing a defensive 7' big man.

League rules preclude me from talking about players in the Draft. What I can say is we're in the early stages of rebuilding this team and some of your points about our needs are well taken and being evaluated.

Hey Pete, If you guys are all for the fans, well then can you guys play Jimmer more? That's want the Fans want!

Thanks for the question. That is the thing that most impresses me about our fans. Is the incredible support you bring to all of our guys. I can attest to the fact that Jimmer and all of the guys feel that. Ultimately that support sets us apart.

Pete I am a 3rd year at UC Santa Barbara, kings fan since '04, Mr Ranadive personally told me he wants Kings Culture here! Now my question is will the kings be back?

We had an unbelievable experience down there. The students were remarkable and the staff was top notch. Thank you and your classmates for that experience, and we appreciate all of your support for the Kings. Go Gauchos!

Pete, how important are wins and losses to the Kings management during this “rebuilding” season?

Wins and losses are always important when we talk about culture and talking about creating an expectation of winning. We will get there!

Hey Pete if you need anyone to hit free throws, I'm right here. You can sign me to a 10 day contract. A lot of teams are having troubles with free throws. I just wanted to let you know.

Pete, how do you and the rest of the Kings team feel about Derrick Williams debut? Is he a better player then what you all anticipated?

We're excited about Derrick. We think the athleticism he brings and his overall basketball skill set will excite our fans and help our team win.

Carl's rehab is on schedule. We can't wait to get him back into a uniform!

Can you talk about Ray McCallum’s experience in Reno?

We're excited to have our association with Reno. It is a perfect place for young players like Ray. Ray played well there and more importantly had an opportunity to play extensive minutes.

Do y'all pay attention to PER ratings much? I know y'all said y'all will be paying more attention to stats analysis. Because as of now T.Outlaw is playing fantastic. He gets a lot of boards and moves without the ball.

We look at a variety of data and happen to agree with the PER with respect to Travis. He's having a very efficient year.

Hey, Pete do you think the Kings can be an elite team in 2 years?

We're going to do everything we can to get there as quickly as we can. We won't put a timetable on it but we won't be satisfied until we get there.

Who would win in a game of 2 on 2: you and Mullin vs Vivek and Shaq?

Hmm, let me see. I can find historical statistical data on Mully and Shaq, but without any data on me and Vivek it may be hard to give you an answer.
