Kings Sign Free Agent Guard Ty Lawson

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento Kings today signed free agent guard Ty Lawson, according to Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Vlade Divac. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Entering his eighth NBA campaign, Lawson has accrued career averages of 13.1 points (.461 FG%, .366 3pt%, .766 FT%), 2.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 29.8 minutes per game in 482 contests (320 starts) with the Denver Nuggets (2009-10 – 2014-15) before splitting the 2015-16 season with the Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers. Lawson made four consecutive playoff appearances to start his career in Denver and five total visits to the postseason during his first seven seasons. His 2,982 career assists rank 10th in the league since he was selected 18th overall in the 2009 NBA Draft out of North Carolina.

The Tar Heel standout enjoyed a three-year collegiate career capped by an NCAA Championship in 2009, earning second-team All-American honors and the Bob Cousy Award bestowed on the nation’s top point guard. Lawson still ranks second all-time in North Carolina annals in career assist-to-turnover ratio (2.78) and third in single-season three-point percentage (.472).
