Kevin Huerter’s Top 5 Career Performances

The acquisition of Kevin Huerter from the Hawks not only gave the Kings one of the best young shooters in the league, but also an underrated passer and willing defender.  

We take a look back at Huerter’s five best games over his four-year career and offer Kings fans a glimpse at what they should expect from the 24-year-old wing this upcoming season. 

Hawks at 76ers — Jan 11, 2019  

Kevin Huerter hit 5 treys en route to a career-high 29 points as the Hawks edged the 76ers, 123-121 in a January tilt in Philadelphia. Huerter was consistent throughout the first three quarters before exploding for 14 points in the final 8 minutes of the fourth quarter. His fifth 3-pointer of the night tied the game up with 53 seconds left and his assist to John Collins with 9 seconds to go gave Atlanta the win. 

Hawks vs. Suns — Jan 14, 2020  

Huerter finished with 23 points, a career high 15 rebounds and eight assists in the Hawks 123-110 win over the Suns in 2020. After Phoenix, who trailed by as much as 15 points in the third quarter, cut the deficit to one on a Tyler Johnson layup with 14 seconds to play, Huerter helped spark a 7-0 run that gave the Hawks the lead for good. During the run, Huerter dished out back-to-back assists to Trae Young and Cam Reddish before sinking a 15-footer of his own and a free throw to extend Atlanta’s lead to 102-94.

Hawks vs. Pacers — Jan 4, 2020  

Kevin Huerter scored a season high 26 points to help the Hawks take down a then-Domantas Sabonis-led Pacers squad 116-111. Huerter played a game-high 41 minutes and knocked down 4-of-7 from deep in the win. Huerter also made his presence felt on the defensive end, notching two key steals in the fourth quarter that helped the Hawks hold on to a slim lead. 

Hawks at Kings — Jan 5, 2022  

In his second game back from a six-game absence, Kevin Huerter dropped 25 points to go with 11 rebounds and five assists in a January matchup against the Kings.  The Hawks - playing without Trae Young, John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanovic - were led by Huerter, who hit 10 of 18 shots from the field. The outburst was part of a three-game stretch where Huerter shot 54% (24 of 44) from the field and nailed seven treys.

Hawks at 76ers — June 20, 2021  

Kevin Huerter posted a team-high 27 points to go with seven rebounds and 3 assists to help the Hawks defeat the Sixers in Game 7 of the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals. Red Velvet started the game hot, making all four of his shot attempts in the opening frame for a team-high nine points. He cooled off in the second and third quarters, but his eight-point, three-rebound, two-assists fourth quarter, where he played all 12 minutes, propelled the Hawks to victory. His three free throws with less than a minute to play gave the Hawks a 96-92 lead and his assist to Danilo Gallinari on the next play sealed the upset victory.
