This Date in Kings History: Kings Advance to WCF

"Beat LA" chants rained down as the buzzer sounded on Game Five of the Kings semifinal matchup with the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, May 13, 2002.

Sacramento's team had just advanced to the Western Conference Finals to play the Los Angeles Lakers - a team that had knocked them out of the playoffs the previous two seasons.

Mike Bibby (23 points and six assists) and Chris Webber (23 points, seven rebounds and five assists) led a balanced Kings squad that saw six players score 15-plus points.

Hedo Turkoglu - while filling in for injured Peja Stojakovic - added 20 points and 13 rebounds.

"We've accomplished a whole lot this season, but nobody in our locker room thinks we're done yet. We've got more goals," said head coach Rick Adelman following the win.

The victory marked the first time since 1964 that a Kings team closed out a playoff series at home.
