Marvin Set for Strides in Sophomore Season
The Kings and their young core are on the rise and Marvin Bagley III is at the forefront leading the charge.
MBIII enters his second season with a strong rookie campaign under his belt. Marvin saw an increased role as the season progressed and produced strong results with his opportunity - averaging 18.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, while shooting 41.2 percent from beyond the arc in the final 15 contests of the year.
In year two, Bagley III is looking for even bigger leaps.
"Everything," said No. 35 when asked about what he's looked to improve this past summer. "I mean, I’ve taken some time during summer working with Rico [Hines] on every aspect of my game."
Everything may be a vague description, but every facet of Marvin's game have been firing on all cylinders during the preseason.
The Kings big man notched three straight double-doubles to close Sactown's preseason tilt, including a 30-point, 14-rebound effort in the closing contest.
No. 35 looks poised to continue his increased responsibility in 2019-20 as he steps into the starting power forward spot for Sacramento on opening night. The squad has its sights set on the postseason and MBIII affirmed his confidence in helping reach that goal.
"We got to come in with a good mindset, continue to lock in, learn, and compete and we will be where we want to be," said Bagley III.
The new campaign tips off on Wednesday night in Phoenix where Marvin and the Kings will look to start the season off strong.
